Poor Poetry: Greeting Card Love

I saw call for valentine’s day greeting card submissions and I started writing without, pausing to read the guidelines (rookie error). As it turns out they want long narrative like poetry about personal experience and definitely no rhymes. Read on to see how epicly I missed the mark.

I will not call you my first love,
because there will not be another.

I will not call you my last love,
because this love will last forever.

I will not call you my only love,
because I love you in all the ways.

But I will call you My Love, My Love,
for all our many days.

I was pleasantly surprised I’d managed to rhyme so easily (irony ey) and perhaps it was easy to write because I’m totally smitten in my new relationship. I wonder if I’ll start writing happily ever afters.
