Letters from the Road: Emerald

Dear Dreamers,

I’m busting out the WordPress app on my phone for the first time. I really should have done it sooner. You may have gotten more regular updates that way.

Oh well.

Since last I wrote we have travelled from Townsville to Cape York and back again… and then down to Emerald. We’ve started down the slippery slide back south and it’s going fast!

Fruitbat Falls
Bush Tacos
Lake Elphinstone

Highlights

Getting right to the top of course! The special piece of coast is truly beautiful and reaching it was very satisfying. Also reuniting with some of our Bowen River friends in Cairns and Townsville.

Lowlights

The disgusting amount of rubbish littering the roads and campsites on the peninsula. Very sad and disappointing.

Writing

Finally… Finally!!! The writing has happened, the words have come. Ever since we left Townsville the first time I’ve been on a creativity bender. It’s great and I now have four, count ’em, four books on the bubble.

Reading

We discovered the little town called Ravenshoe has a hidden gem of a second hand bookstore known as The Emporium. Mat picked up two books we he loved and devoured promptly. I on the other hand was not a big fan of my find so instead have been ticking off some outstanding items on my Kindle. Sabriel, A Wrinkle in Time and Tensy Farlow have now been read and I’m currently knees deep into The Three Musketeers.

We’re off to Brisbane shortly where I hope to write again.

Until then…
