Poor Poetry – Experimentation

Early days followers of this blog may remember a few posts I did featuring my shaky attempts at the poetic form called ‘Poor Poetry‘. Well, I’ve been at it again. First off the band wagon is a poem I call ‘I Don’t Write Poetry’

I Don’t Write Poetry

I don’t write poetry
Because I don’t know how.

It’s boundless and uncertain
It intimidates me.

I stick to carefully constructed sentences
And paragraphs
And narratives
Because I understand them.

I know if they’re not working
(Sometimes)
And I know how to fix them
(Occasionally).

How does a poem work?
What are the rules?
How do I break them?

I don’t write poetry
Because I don’t know how.
