New Beginnings

I started a new section in my notebook today. The dividing page read “New Ideas / New Dreams / New Beginnings”. Now I’m not usually one for inspirational quotes (Ok, obviously I am or I wouldn’t have bought that notebook) but it’s so appropriate to my life right now I just had to share.

For example, I just moved from NSW to VIC with my boyfriend to live on a farm. Seriously, there are cows and everything! But before the big move I got some other really exciting news. The fabulous Tiegan Dakin had accepted me as Art Editor of the new lit mag The Drowning Gull. The first issue of TDG just went live and you should for reals check it out.

As a writer I’m exciting about the writing and as the art editor I’m excited about the art. The cover image for this issue is vibrant and playful just like The Drowning Gull itself.

The second issue is open for submissions now. It’s a nonfiction and art issue with a nature theme so if that’s what you’re into, or you know someone who is, take a look at the submissions page and send us something.

I for one, can’t wait to immerse myself in art once again (I used to run an art blog called Visions of Whimsy) and see what talent is waiting to be discovered. If you’re thinking of submitting, you can find some insights on the kind of art I’m looking for on the TDG blog. The same goes for our fiction and poetry editors.

Now I’m settled into my new home I’m going to get into the blogging groove, expect more interviews, book reviews, articles and pictures of cute calves!

If I’ve posted anything in the past you especially liked don’t hesitate to tell me so I can give you more of it. If there’s something I haven’t done but you think would be cool, tell me that too (I’m trying my hand at crossword writing at the moment so get excited).
